Job Responsibilities:
- Senior Legal Counsel will provide strategic legal advice to the German business units of Dr. Reddy’s, acting as the primary legal business partner to the Country/ Business/ Function/ Department Heads
- Be an active member of the German leadership team, offering strategic legal guidance and acting as a business enabler
- Support the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts including in-licensing, out-licensing and other types of Business Development agreements, distribution agreement, e-commerce related agreements, purchase agreements, development/ manufacturing/ supply agreements, service/ consultancy agreement, clinical trial agreement, market research agreement, confidentiality agreement etc. and providing training on contract templates and Contract Lifecycle Management tool
- Facilitate training on policies and processes in legal and related areas such as Contracting, Data Protection, Competition Law etc.
- Review promotional and non-promotional items, media releases for compliance with laws
- Advise on local market access and tender processes
- Lead local workstreams of corporate/ European/ global projects such as legal integration, M&A due diligence, new business initiatives
- Support HR function with employment related documentation and advisory, works council negotiations
- Support new business initiatives such as business launch of medical devices, biosimilar and OTC products
- Areas of expertise – Commercial, Regulatory (pharmaceuticals, medical devices, medical cannabis), Medical, Corporate and Governance, Competition Law, Data Privacy and Employment Laws
- Support Regional projects in coordination with the Regional General Counsel, Europe and global Assistant General Counsel (M&A)
- Being kept up to date with existing and upcoming regulation affecting the pharmaceutical as well as medical devices business of Dr. Reddy’s in Germany and being proactive in implementing processes for compliance with the same
- Ensure participation in relevant meetings and forums organized by Dr. Reddy’s Global Legal and Compliance Function
- Represent legal team in any cross-functional projects at Germany or at European level
Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Attributes
- German educated Lawyer with 10+ years of practical experience as in-house legal counsel in a global company in Germany
- Expertise in complex business development transactions and handling legal entities in Germany
- Solid experience in the pharmaceutical and/ or medical devices industry and a strong understanding of the regulatory environment in both/ either of the industries
- Proven project management skills
- Proven experience of communicating effectively with decision-making individuals within an organization
- Pragmatic, self-starter with strong analytical skills to identify core issues
- Strong problem-solving ability to come up with practical solutions that comply with law and work for the business
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to tailor your message to your target audience and communicate complex issues clearly and persuasively
- Ability to build solid relationships and to influence across a diverse group of business people with a wide array of professional backgrounds, including executive management.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to successfully coordinate and complete multiple tasks within and across departments to meet established and changing deadlines
- Unquestionable ethics and excellent judgment, ability to maintain confidentiality and act in a critical position of trust within the company
- The ability and desire to work independently with limited direct supervision
- Fluent in German and English; knowledge of additional European languages is an asset
