I am representing a Germany-based provider focused on electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. It designs, installs, and operates user-friendly charging stations, primarily in urban environments, to support the transition to sustainable transportation. Emphasising convenience, the company’s charging solutions integrate a seamless digital interface that enables users to locate, reserve, and pay for charging sessions easily.


Their mission centres on expanding EV accessibility by creating a reliable and widely available network, with a strong emphasis on simplicity and user experience. Expansion efforts are ongoing in various European cities to meet the growing demand for EV infrastructure.


Overview:

They are seeking an extremely senior Python Developer to lead backend development efforts within their team. Your primary focus will be on designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable backend services that support their EV charging network. As a senior team member, you will play a critical role in driving architectural decisions, optimising performance, and ensuring their backend systems are reliable and scalable. Additionally, knowledge of AWS is crucial, and familiarity with Rust is a plus for certain performance-focused projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of backend services and APIs that power their EV charging infrastructure.
  • Architect, optimise, and maintain scalable systems on AWS, ensuring high availability and robust performance.
  • Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to define and implement key backend functionalities.
  • Implement best practices in code quality, security, and testing to ensure maintainable, high-quality code.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members, contributing to an environment of continuous learning and development.
  • Drive process improvements in code review, testing, and deployment pipelines to enhance team productivity and code reliability.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience with Python in a senior or lead developer role, with expertise in backend development.
  • Strong experience with AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS) and proficiency in designing scalable cloud-based architectures.
  • Proven track record in building and maintaining high-performance backend systems.
  • Experience with database management, ideally including both SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with Rust is beneficial, especially in performance-critical applications.
  • Knowledge of best practices in RESTful API design and integration, with exposure to microservices architecture.
  • Strong understanding of testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • - Prior experience in the EV charging, IoT, or sustainable infrastructure sector.
  • - Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
  • - Strong communication skills and experience in a collaborative, agile team environment.
