We offer you the opportunity to become part of the highly motivated expert community of RWE Renewables. You will help to ensure that value engineering is consistently applied in all phases of our RWE Renewables projects.
As a Wind & Site Assessment Engineer in Project Engineering Germany, you will bring your expertise in wind resource assessment and energy yield modeling to wind onshore projects in Germany. You will report to the Team Leader for Site Assessment and Modeling in Engineering. You will work in a team with colleagues from Resource Assessment, Acoustics, Wind Monitoring and Site Suitability to ensure efficient and closely coordinated planning of wind farms and yield forecasts.
Your tasks
- Provision of technical support throughout the entire life cycle of onshore wind farm projects
- Support in the analysis of wind energy potential through in-depth analysis and processing of meteorological measurements and/or other available data, modeling of wind flow and estimation of energy yield as well as quantification of various technical losses, inherent uncertainties and identification of risks and opportunities
- Preparation of noise and shadow impact calculations and site suitability tests
- Support in the planning and optimization of system layouts
- Support in the design of new and review of existing measurement campaigns, management and review of third party reports (wind, yield, noise and site suitability)
Your profile
- University degree in engineering or natural sciences or equivalent education and experience
- Relevant professional experience in the areas of wind & site as well as initial experience in the field of acoustics
- Confident handling of MS Office applications (especially Excel), experience with VBA, Python and Matlab is an advantage
- Good experience with windPRO/WAsP and GIS software, ideally also CFD and Windographer
- Agile mindset, critical and analytical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills are desired
- Adequate degree of self-organization, independence, reliability, perseverance and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Our work takes place throughout Germany. Flexibility and the willingness to occasionally travel within Germany are no problem for you
- Very good knowledge of German (at least C1), which is required for reading and correcting German reports, exchanging information with consultants and also with residents of renewable projects, as well as very good knowledge of English
