The Role

The Energy Team continuously monitors and manages the utility systems, ensuring they meet the process specifications for vehicle production. The team is also responsible for continuously designing and implementing strategies and improvements to ensure optimum energy performance of the factory, working on energy efficiency improvements.
As an energy engineer, you will be responsible for implementing energy-saving measures, analyzing energy consumption, and leading several energy efficiency projects in the state-of-the-art Gigafactory Berlin Brandenburg. You will obtain overall coordination on energy efficiency projects on-site, leveraging deep technical expertise and distinctive competency in production and utility systems. You will be a major counterpart for production, Technical Service, and Technical Design.

Responsibilities
• Identify and lead energy efficiency projects in the factory.
• Review trends and monitor equipment/systems to ensure they run within specifications.
• Identify and implement projects aiming for net zero emissions.
• Identify potentials for waste heat utilization within the factory.
• Create and modify standard operational limits of facilities and manufacturing equipment to ensure efficient operation.
• Support the implementation of environmental or energy management systems
• Create, monitor, and maintain energy monitoring dashboards with data from electrical and mechanical systems.
• Own the power and energy monitoring software to constantly monitor, validate, and develop the changing electrical loads and connections in the factory.
• Build and maintain energy usage forecasting models using standardized forecasting methods and input data from the factory.
• Support in building energy KPIs and targets for all shops and utilities in the factory.

Requirements
• Your working style is proactive, pragmatic and fast-paced
• Master's degree in Energy Engineering, Energy Data Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar field with 2 years of industrial experience (preferably automotive).
• Detailed understanding of complex HVAC and heating/cooling water systems.
• Proven record of working in a manufacturing environment on energy efficiency projects.
• Experience in understanding complex mechanical P&IDs (process and instrumentation diagrams) and single-line diagrams for electrical systems.
• Experience in managing and analyzing large energy datasets and utility demand forecasting (Python is a plus).
• Experience in SCADA, analytics, and energy monitoring software.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Intermediate project management skills.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to work in a large, complex environment where you must adapt to meet company needs.
