Our department is responsible for the risk management of Munich Re's financial risks. We design, support and monitor the Asset-Liability-Management (ALM) process from the risk management perspective. This includes the calculation of the risk minimal investment portfolio, including the modelling of the inflation sensitivity of our liabilities. It also includes the responsibility for the most important limits for financial and liquidity risks of Munich Re.

The department is responsible to assess risks of new financial products and complex (re-) insurance transactions containing capital market risks.

In addition, we are the risk management function for: Business with substantial market risk transfer in Life Re, the weather and energy business and all other transactions containing financial risks worldwide.

For these challenging and exciting tasks with the focus on capital market risks we look for a risk manager. To achieve our goals we work in close collaboration with international entities, units in Munich, ERGO and MEAG.

Your Job:
  • Support an effective risk management process for ALM risks
  • Participate in strategic projects in the financial risk management field
  • Perform updates and create regular risk reports, this includes integrating new deals and developing new reports
  • Prepare documentation and risk management opinion for the approval process of new products or transactions
  • Analyse reinsurance transactions or products, with focus on the modelling of capital market risks
  • Close communication with business units and other involved departments (e.g. GIM, LH, MEAG, New Re, ERGO, CU, Glise) to foster efficient risk management
For these tasks we are looking for a risk manager who is enthusiastic about risk management and shares our passion to develop solutions. The initial tasks performed by the successful applicant will be selected to fit the skill profile. Medium term all tasks described above should be performed.

Your Profile:
  • University degree in a quantitative discipline, ideally complemented with further training in risk management or finance (e.g. PRM, CFA, actuary).
  • Sound knowledge of mathematical concepts for the valuation of financial products
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
  • Some understanding of Asset Liability Risk Management concepts
  • Excellent communication skills to deliver clear and concise messages in an appreciative way
  • First professional experience with financial risks is a plus
  • Very good command of English (written and oral)
  • Programming skills (R, VBA, SQL, MatLab)
