About the Position:

Incumbent works independently under the general supervision of the appropriate credentialed and/or licensed personnel for clinical matters and the clinic Health Systems Specialist for administrative matters.

Duties
  • In this position you will independently perform a variety of laboratory examinations and procedures.
  • Set up and calibrate equipment, instruments and various materials.
  • Manage patient result statuses by verifying results and input into a laboratory computer system.
  • Consult with physicians regarding test findings or if additional tests may be necessary to clarify problems.
  • Perform donor recruitment by marketing, advertising, personally contacting donors, and follow-up appointments.
  • Process human volunteer and autologous donors to include apheresis donors by performing donor history, temperature, pulse, blood pressure, hemoglobin and other donor screening determinations as specified by regulations.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collection of whole blood from donors.
  • Individually operate apheresis equipment for the collection of single donor platelets or single donor plasma from volunteer donors.
  • Trains personnel and students on blood donor center procedures.
