Lead Site Reliability Engineer

The developer-first platform grants access to the world's leading providers of optical, radar, elevation, and aerial data, all in one place, and offers flexible APIs and a Python SDK to help build and scale solutions. Users can search the catalog for existing imagery, or task a satellite to capture a desired area. Whatever the use case, UP42 is the one-stop-shop for all geospatial data needs.
At UP42, we are committed to delivering top-tier solutions for our customers and partners. We are seeking a dedicated SRE Lead (m/f/x) to continue the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure. As the SRE Lead at UP42, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on infrastructure goals and lead your team through technical challenges and continuous improvement initiatives. Aside from that, you focus on strategic planning and executing major projects to enhance system resilience and scalability. What you will do:
You will guide and mentor a team of Cloud Engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. You will monitor, maintain, and enhance the reliability, performance, and availability of UP42's infrastructure, contributing to the development and maintenance of core cloud infrastructure. Working closely with product, engineering, and operations teams, you will align on goals, integrate new features, and enhance observability practices. Using infrastructure-as-code, you will create and optimize automation and tools, including deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters on the Google Cloud Platform. While continuously optimizing system performance and scalability, you will define and execute the SRE roadmap, and plan major projects like Ephemeral Environments and CI/CD transitions. You will Implement, automate, and document security guidelines based on industry standards to ensure robust infrastructure protection. Supporting the team's transition to Platform Engineering, you will drive initiatives to improve the environment's maintainability, and scalability. You will lead incident management efforts, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence, participating in the on-call rotation.-
