Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University offers the position of a
W3-Professorship for "Applied Artificial Intelligence in Radiation Oncology" (f/m/d)
to be filled for the first time as soon as possible.
The professorship will represent the field "Applied Artificial Intelligence in Radiation Oncology" in research and teaching and strengthen the focus of medical technology and medical physics research at the Department of Radiotherapy and Radiation Oncology (Director: Prof. Dr. F. A. Giordano). The focus is on research, development and clinical implementation of patient-oriented, AI-supported applications.
In particular, digital assistance systems for personalized radiation planning and the processing of heterogeneous (big data) routine data sets from clinical parameters and digital aftercare (e.
g. from ePRO) are to be developed. In addition, innovative software precursors (prototypical/pre-market) are expected to be (further) developed to improve radiation planning, therapy and aftercare.
The successful candidate should have a proven track record of publications, successful acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects and international collaborations.
A willingness to cooperate with the research focus Medical Systems Technologies and the other research focuses of the faculty (especially oncology) is expected.
Active participation in the M2OLIE research campus is expressly desired.Depending on the scientific orientation of the applicant, cooperation with the German Cancer Research Center Heidelberg (DKFZ) and/or the DKFZ Hector Cancer Institute at the University Medical Center Mannheim may be sought.
In teaching, intensive participation in the design and implementation of teaching in the MaReCuM model study program and in the Master's program "Biomedical Engineering" is expected.
Prerequisites for application are a completed university degree (mathematics, computer science, physics or a related subject with a clear connection to AI), a qualified doctorate and pedagogical aptitude, which is usually proven by experience in teaching.
In accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent scientific qualifications is an additional requirement.
A degree in human medicine and recognition as a specialist in radiotherapy are an advantage, but not a requirement.In addition, international qualifications in clinical-translational research as well as didactic competence, cooperation and leadership skills and commitment to academic self-administration are expected.
The position is tenured.As a rule, a permanent employment relationship under private law will be established with the future holder of the position by concluding an employment contract (Article 49 paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg (LHG)).
