The global demand for power from renewable sources like wind and solar is on the rise. Stationary energy storage emerges as a key technology, ensuring a reliable power supply despite the intermittent nature of these sources by storing excess energy and discharging it during peak demand.
This job gives you the opportunity to direct your career towards actively contributing to sustainable solutions and establishing large-scale production capacities for NAS batteries - a cutting-edge technology ideal for long-duration stationary energy storage with superior features.
BASF Stationary Energy Storage GmbH (BSES) is a wholly owned subsidiary of BASF SE. BSES is the exclusive distributer of the NAS batteries and co-develops the NAS technology together with its Japanese partner NGK Insulators Ltd.
RESPONSIBILITIESIn the responsibility as (Senior) Manager Operations & Commissioning, you will establish an optimal operations setup at the initial Gigafactory for NAS batteries.
- Analyze the work processes at the existing production plant of our Japanese partner in Nagoya/Japan
- Develop and implement a state-of-the-art operational work organization (work system definition considering the principles of standardized work, workforce flexibility & qualification, shop-floor management including visual management and performance steering, shift arrangement including leadership and group work approach)
- Drive the staffing, recruitment, and training of plant operations personnel
- Plan and execute commissioning and start-up
- Prepare operation manuals including start-up and shutdown procedures
- Ensure occupational QEHS compliance
- Build strong networks within diverse, international teams and foster a collaborative, trustworthy, respectful, proactive, open-minded, and high-performing culture creating tangible results
Subject to availability and qualification you may have the opportunity to fulfill your responsibilities at our Japanese partner's existing production plant in Nagoya through a short-term assignment.
QUALIFICATIONS- Completed studies in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering
- Solid position-related work experience gained in automotive manufacturing, battery manufacturing or similar industries
- Deep knowledge about the interdependencies and success factors of complex industrial work systems
- Capability to create tangible and sustainable results in a target-oriented way
- Excellent communication in English, German or Japanese is an additional plus
- Team player and passion to contribute to sustainable solutions limiting the implications of climate change
- Following the successful completion of the initial investment project, promising opportunities arise for the involvement in the plant's target organization or subsequent investment endeavors
