This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing international tech/e-commerce group that is rapidly expanding its business globally and this role they see as a key component to deliver their growth target across Central and Eastern Europe. In this role, you will play a key part in the firm's growth and development by creating their public affairs strategy and program, as well as influencing government ministries and regulators across the region. You will also play a key role in advising there partners within the region on deferent public policy developments to ensure both the firm and partners maintain an excellent reputation. They are seeking someone with strong experience in building lasting relationships with regulators and governments across CEE, confidence in their ability to succeed in the role, and adaptability to take on additional responsibilities as the role evolves amidst fast-paced political and regulatory changes. They are looking for this role to be based out of Berlin or Bucharest, but they offer flexibility.

About the Position:

As the Head Public Policy for CEE, the successful candidate will have many responsibilities. However, primarily they'll be responsible for the design and implementation of the firm's public affairs strategy across Europe, spearheading regional engagements across Romania, Czechia and Slovakia, and providing expert guidance to senior leadership on the intricacies of the region's political and economic landscape. This role will also be integral to the firms growth in Hungary, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece and Poland

Main Responsibilities:

  • Leading cross-border trade and e-commerce operations by implementing their strategy in required CEE countries, and working cross-functionally with senior leaders across their policy, communications, legal, marketing, operations, and cross-border teams.
  • Recruiting and managing a dynamic team of policy professionals who are at the forefront of challenging, multi-faceted policy issues.
  • Developing a deep understanding of business priorities and legislative trends to inform their reactive and proactive work around the country.

Key Attributes:

  • Extraordinary track record managing high-stakes policy issues at international and local level in an in-house role.
  • At least 10 years experience in fast-paced corporate public policy environments with 7+ years experience in an e-commerce or technology-focused company.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain relationships with external partners.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently for various functions, meetups, and events.
  • A collaborative approach to your work. The team's success depends on effective collaboration within our team and with business partners. Embracing the unique role of the Government Relations team and drawing on the full resources of our broader team is critical their continued success.
  • An operational mindset that enables you to seamlessly manage internal and external processes and stakeholders.
  • Experience providing strategic counsel to senior executives.
  • Superb communication skills in one-on-one, group, and town hall style settings with internal and external stakeholders.
