Data Scientist / Business Analyst - Project Member ESG Reporting for insurance-associated emission (IAE) KPIs (m/f/d)*

within the Sustainability Reporting Project for Munich Re Reinsurance Group

(limited until in full-time/part-time)

The group-wide Sustainability Reporting Program was launched in September 2021 to develop the future reporting landscape for all sustainability related reporting requirements. This strategic initiative includes external regulatory requirements e.g. EU taxonomy reporting, European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and other regulatory requirements, but also internal requirements linked to our strategy and esp. the ESG-related commitments. The Program is therefore organized around 4 pillars: Assets, Liabilities, Own Operations and HR.

With this position, we are seeking to staff the highly exposed and strategic Pillar Liabilities (i.e. (re)insurance business) for our Reinsurance segment with a Data Scientist / Business Analyst for our insurance-associated emission implementation workstream. The focus will be our global commercial business for both, F&C within reinsurance and GSIs.

During this project assignment your team will rely on your capabilities in Big Data Analytics and your ability to translate business requirements into IT development items. You will build valuable knowledge in sustainability topics which will be a complementary element to your job profile in the future. In addition you will be involved in and understand our (re-)insurance value chain – from the underwriting input through Munich Re's financial systems to our (non-)financial statement as part of the annual report. This includes conceptual thinking combined with the need to find pragmatic and robust solutions for the implementation.

The successful candidate will be an authentic individual with a high degree of ownership to execute the implementation for parts of the value chain and the ability to operate effectively in a project setup.

YOUR JOB

Be integral part of the delivery of internal and external reporting requirements of (new) insurance-associated emission KPIs Perform Big Data Analysis in the field of single-risk portfolio and carbon emission analytics and create presentations for the top management for decision-making Work in an interdisciplinary set-up with both internal and external project members with a strong attitude to deliver the required outcome in scope and in time Support the translation of business requirements into concrete IT design specification. Interact with the IT project stream and align business and technical requirements

YOUR PROFILE

Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify patterns and insights in large data sets Expertise with big data technologies, (e. g. DataBricks) and a set of analytical tools ranging from databases (e.g. SQL,) to programming languages (e.g. R, Python), and data visualization (e.g. PowerBI) Strong communication skills and ability to interact in a project setup Ability to communicate with IT to formulate business requirements transferred into IT solution High level of commitment and responsibility Very good command of Business English Experience in single risk (re)insurance underwriting, processes and operations is a plus
