The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for Operations Directorate (OPS) - Baltic Sea and Northern Europe Department (BSNE) - Public Sector Austria, Germany and Nordics Division (4-PUB SEC) - Austria and Germany Unit (AT&DE), in the EIB officein Berlin, Germany : TRAINEE

Duration: 5 months (fixed start date: 01st September 2024)

Objective of the traineeship

To support the activities of the Public Sector Lending Division of the EIB in the German market, with a focus on Berlin and East Germany.

The successful candidate will gain knowledge of the lending process of the EIB as the EU Bank and the largest multinational lending institution in the world.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Head of Division, the Head of Unit and the resident Loan Officer in Berlin, you will actively participate in the Division's core activities. Your main tasks will be:

  • Preparation of market analysis and research on topics of interest of the Division;
  • Preparation of speaking notes and presentations for staff of the Division;
  • Market analysis/sounding to identify potential clients for origination purposes;
  • Review of information / project data received from external counterparts and input into the Bank's systems and internal reports;
  • Collection and analysis of financial statement data in support of the credit assessment process;
  • Analysis of the portfolio of the Division in Germany, with a focus on East Germany
Academic qualifications and professional skills
  • Final year of studies or University degree in Economics, Banking, Finance or any other related subject (Business Administration, Management)
  • Ability to read and understand financial statements
  • A first experience in financial/credit analysis will be considered an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of standard Microsoft Office tools (in particular Word and Excel)
  • Ability to write credit-related documents (e.g. financial analysis, reports) in English.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and/or French. Knowledge of German would be an advantage.
