What does a successful Senior DevOps Engineer do?

A successful Senior DevOps Engineer is responsible for managing and improving processes, tools and methodologies by continuously evaluating and implementing industry best practices. Using tools such as Jenkins, Git, Docker and Kubernetes, this position optimizes CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable deployment processes. Collaboration with development teams is critical to integrate automated testing and monitoring solutions to improve code quality and system performance. The ability to conduct regular feedback loops and retrospectives is critical to identify opportunities for improvement and to continuously adapt and refine methodologies.

What you will do:

• Manage and improve processes, tools and methodologies throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Prepare, integrate and deploy new releases for our on-premise and cloud-based web applications and APIs. In projects, you are involved in the architecture and design phase to ensure production readiness and compliance.
• Maintaining the environment and ensuring its stability and safety.
• Managing server operating system upgrades, patching and updating containers, and preparing new servers for application deployments along with other IT infrastructure departments.
• Support developers with cloud migration and management of application containers, cron jobs, sealed secrets and application infrastructure dependencies.

What you should bring with you:

• Experience in using the following technologies and products: Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, PHP Composer, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Oracle and MSSQL databases, Grafana and container performance monitoring and improvement, Nexus, Sonar, Splunk logging, load balancer and web application firewall, certificate management and provisioning (TLS, CAs, ...), security compliance frameworks (OWASP, PCI DSS, ...), PHP 8.x, Confluence, Jira, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe
• Fluent German and English. Knowledge of Polish is an advantage.

What does a successful Senior DevOps Engineer do?

Within this role a successful Senior DevOps Engineer combines technical expertise with project management skills to manage the preparation, integration, and deployment of new releases for both on-premises and cloud-based applications and APIs. Utilizing tools such as Gitlab, Docker, and Kubernetes, this position streamlines CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable deployment processes. Collaboration with development teams is pivotal for migrating applications into the Cloud, improving automation, and thereby optimizing software development, enhancing system reliability and system performance.

What will you do:

• Manage and improve the processes, tools, and methodologies throughout the software development life cycle.
• Take over the preparation, integration, and deployment of new releases for our on-prem and Cloud based web applications and API's. In projects you are already involved in the architectural and design phase to ensure production readiness and compliance.
• Support the developers with the application Cloud migrations and setup/manage the application containers, cronjobs, sealed secrets, and application infrastructure dependencies.
• Prepare and manage server OS upgrades, patch and upgrade containers, and setup new servers for the application deployments together with other IT Infrastructure departments.
• Prepare and conduct disaster recovery tests, integrate automated application security scans, and maintain the environment to ensure the stability and security of the same.

What you need to have

• Experience in working with the following technologies and products: Linux/Apache/mySQL/PHP (LAMP) environments, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Gitlab CI/CD, Grafana, security and performance monitoring, Certificate Management, Firewalls & Load Balancing, Security Compliance Frameworks (OWASP, PCI DSS, ...)
• Optionally: Oracle and MSSQL databases, IIS, PHP 8.x, PHP Composer, Gerrit, Jenkins
• Fluency in German, English. Polish nice to have.
