Aufgaben
We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and entrepreneur scientist to coordinate and execute research in the field of soil microbial ecology and nutrient dynamics. The position is a key valuable member of the Crop Nutrition & Biological Products R&D (CNBP) organization and reports to the R&D Lead Microbials.
Working location is in Dülmen, Germany.
Responsibilities
- Coordination and execution of activities to evaluate and develop biological approaches to regulate soil-microbe-plant activity and bio-functionalities to improve crop production resilience, increase nutrient use efficiency and/or reduce environmental impacts of fertilizer use.
- Carry out research to discover, isolate and prototype biological products as well as formulation optimization aiming to develop performing products.
- Be the subject-matter expert on microbial interactions and nutrient dynamics in soil and rhizosphere, with focus on nutrient dynamics and transformations related to mineral fertilizer use.
- Coordinate research to evaluate product quality and performance e.g. efficiency, viability, community analyses under different conditions from lab to field.
- Coordinate product development projects from ideation till development / formulation following established product development pipeline in line with strategic targets and product management organizations.
- Coordinate and execute the agronomic trial program, aiming to generate data on agronomic performance and application recommendation of targeted prototypes.
- Represent at scientific events, industry associations, and forums, showcasing expertise in microbial solutions for sustainable agriculture. Readiness to travel and flexible working hours required.
- Support the CNBP R&D groups in other projects as requested.
Profil
- Higher education in natural sciences with specialization in soil microbiology, microbial ecology with a focus on environmental sustainability, biotechnology, agriculture or related field.
- Expertise in soil microbial dynamics related to changing climatic conditions, soil nutrient and microbial related metabolites and impact on crop growth, abiotic stress alleviation and nutrient use efficiency.
- Hands-on experience with research and analytical methods on microbial diversity in soils aiming to understand composition and functions of microbial communities (e.g. growth, gene / metabolic activity, synthetic communities, communities characterization), analytical assay development, and agronomic trial design and execution (lab, greenhouse and/or field).
- Curiosity and entrepreneurial mindset driving developments from idea to product.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively convey complex topics / results to stakeholders with non-technical backgrounds.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English. Knowledge of other languages an asset.
