Hydro Aluminium Metal a leading supplier of extrusion ingots, sheet ingots, foundry alloys, wire rods and high-purity aluminum with a global production network of around 5,000 employees. With primary metal production facilities in Europe, Canada, Australia, Brazil and Qatar, and recycling facilities throughout Europe and in the U.S., two-thirds of our primary aluminum production is based on renewable energy.
Who are you?We are looking for a Team Lead (m/f/d) Recycling R&D, who is a well-connected, internationally accepted technical expert in the field of aluminium recycling technology. To thrive in this role you also have good communication (written and oral) and cooperation skills.

Leadership Responsibilities:
• Line responsibility for the group of Project Managers R&D
• Actively lead the R&D group and the portfolio of R&D projects
• Develop the individual Project Managers R&D
• Actively involve the competence of Project Managers Shredding & Sorting and Casthouses into R&D work
• Own and execute on the Recycling R&D Strategy and the Recycling R&D Steering Committees
• Propose an annual R&D activity plan including clear deliverables
• Responsible for IP watch in the area of recycling technology
• Play an active role in external R&D networks towards universities, research institutions, associations and industry peers including involvement in and initiation of pre-competitive joint R&D projects
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE):
• Be visible in the plants as safety ambassador
• Ensure that developed technology fulfills highest safety and environmental standards
• Ensure safe execution of projects managed by the department
• Master's degree or PhD – preferably within Metallurgy, Material Sciences, Applied Mathematics or similar
• More than 10 years of industrial experience in R&D in a related field, i.e. experience in R&D funding applications and work in joint R&D programs with industry peers and research institutions
• Ability to build relationships with stakeholders across various cultures and organizational levels, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration
• Demonstrating high ethical standards, care and respect for compliance
• Experience with aluminium is an advantage
• Fluency in English, good communication skills in German or Norwegian is a plus
• While extensive travel will be necessary, you will have the flexibility to influence the timing of most trips. This will involve international travel for relationship-building and internal plant support, and engagement with external networks
