Job Title: Deputy Secretary General at International Institute of Sugar Beet Research (IIRB)

The International Institute of Sugar Beet Research (IIRB) is searching for a Deputy Secretary General to join their team in Göttingen, Germany.

The IIRB is a non-governmental, non-profit organization based in Brussels, Belgium, focused on fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among sugar beet cultivation experts worldwide.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute workshops and conferences
  • Organize the yearly General Assembly
  • Manage meetings of the Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Committee
  • Support working groups in meeting organization
  • Handle administrative tasks related to IIRB
  • Manage accounting and budgets with treasurer's support
  • Administer memberships and communicate with members
  • Handle public relations and maintain the society's website
  • Collaborate with partner organizations, research institutions, growers associations, and industry

Your Qualifications:

  • Hold a university degree in biology, agricultural sciences, or related fields
  • Experience in managing scientific societies is advantageous
  • Think strategically and work effectively in diverse contexts
  • Demonstrate initiative, excellent organizational skills, and strong communication abilities
  • Interest in science, conference management, and event organization
  • Proficient in German and English; French proficiency is a plus
  • Skilled in conveying complex information clearly in written and verbal forms
  • Thrives in a flexible and collaborative work environment

What We Offer:

We provide a part-time role (50-60% hours per week) with compensation aligned with TV-L, pay grade up to TVL- EG13 based on qualifications, and compliant with employee standards.

The role is for a two-year term with options for flexible hours and remote work.
