Responsibilities:
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
The research focuses on three aspects (in varying scope as required):
- historical investigation of the background and context of Tibetan Buddhist text culture in general and paratext in particular
- empirical test, conducted in consultation with the project's Scientific Team and based mainly on the Chester Beatty Tibetan collection, with the focus on questions related to instilling knowledge, understanding, and/or aesthetic appreciation
Profile:
A university degree in a relevant field.
Further requirements:
- good knowledge of Classical Tibetan
- good knowledge of Tibetan Buddhist literature and Tibetan text culture
- very good knowledge of the historical-philological method
- capability of conducting research in an interdisciplinary environment
