Job description
The tasks of the professorship at KIT, division I – Biology, Chemistry and Process Engineering – at the Joseph Kölreuter Institute for Plant Sciences comprise research, teaching, and innovation in the field of molecular plant sciences. The focus of the successful candidate should be on plant resilience as an adaptation to abiotic or biotic stress. Research topics should include molecular biology, cell biology, or physiological investigations in the field of higher plant biology, especially of agriulturally important plants. The professorship is expected to contribute in the long term to sustainable agriculture capable of addressing the challenges of climate change.
The professorship "Applied Plant Sciences" offers you attractive conditions for a first appointment as professor. You will bridge basic and applied research, thereby connecting different disciplinary fields. The professorship aims to sustainably strengthen division I of KIT in "Life Science Engineering" and "Plants Fit for Future."
For teaching (9 semester hours per week), we expect your engagement in basic plant sciences in the Bachelor's program (German) "Biology," in the study tracks "General Biology" and "Applied Biology," and their respective practical courses, as well as in interdisciplinary subjects. Additionally, we expect motivation and enthusiasm for teaching in the Master's program "Biology" and your active contribution to the design and future development of the programs. Your teaching qualification should be demonstrated through the "habilitation" or equivalent achievements. Furthermore, you should actively participate in academic self-administration.

Personal qualification
You are an internationally recognized scientist in one of the aforementioned research fields. You have initial leadership experience as a group leader, are a team player, and have experience in undergraduate teaching. You are willing to collaborate interdisciplinarily within the KIT and are capable of acquiring competitive third-party funding.
