About the Position:
As an Area/Shift Manager at Amazon, you will lead a large and diverse team, ensuring that your area of business always keeps up with demand. In this hands-on role, you will become familiar with the complex operational processes of a global company and learn what it takes to keep everything running smoothly. Working together with your colleagues, you will focus on increasing productivity and addressing challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promoting a culture of safety and well-being
  • Analyzing and implementing corrective measures to consistently ensure high quality and productivity, as well as cross-shift adherence to all business goals
  • Supporting and leading a team, handling administrative tasks, building and supporting a strong team culture
  • Analyzing performance and making process improvement suggestions to optimize workflows and customer service
  • Collaborating with other managers to standardize shift processes

A Day in the Life:
You will work in different shifts at one of our operational sites, focusing on maintaining safety standards by your team and throughout your entire location. You will also monitor process efficiency, with priorities including routine team management and daily operational activities. Additionally, you will handle tasks such as escalations, process improvements, and cross-functional emergency planning.

As a key member of the operations team, you will collaborate with colleagues from other teams and external partners to ensure that we meet the requirements of our customers and our own standards at all times. This involves data analysis and performance metrics review with executives in your business area and discussing operational pros and cons of technical improvements with the technical team.

About the Company:
The Logistics department at Amazon (AMZL) is responsible for 'Last-Mile-Logistics' - delivering our packages in partnership with third-party providers. We think creatively and implement continuous improvement initiatives to deliver millions of physical products to our customers. Our goal is to make the delivery experience for our customers as smooth as possible and introduce global delivery solutions for our latest offerings, including Amazon Fresh, Prime Now, and Amazon Restaurants.

These activities are carried out by two groups of employees. Our 'internal' employees prepare millions of products for shipping to our delivery teams. Our team is people-oriented and helpful, crucial as many employees work night shifts. Our focus is primarily on operations, and most of our sites operate 24/7.
Meanwhile, our 'field' employees work with Amazon Flex - a contractor delivery network. Every year, we set new standards in customer experience and offer innovative delivery services. We look for new ways to overcome industry-wide logistics challenges, as well as ideas to reduce our CO2 footprint. An innovative fleet of vehicles (including electric vehicles) and state-of-the-art technology support us in this endeavor.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or close to completing a Bachelor's program
  • Advanced English and German language skills in both written and verbal communication
  • Relevant experience in conducting data analysis

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in communicating with various stakeholders, including colleagues and executives
  • Experience in a logistics environment
  • Experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional setting
