Construction Manager, Design and Construction

Amazon started its online journey in 1995 with the goal of being the most customer-centric company globally, offering a wide range of products for online shoppers.
The ideal candidate will be a vital part of the operations team, leading the project management efforts for the planning, design, and construction of new Amazon Fulfillment Centers. This includes expanding existing facilities and establishing new sites.
The Construction Manager will have a key role in developing and executing the EU network infrastructure. Responsibilities involve analyzing facility scenarios, evaluating designs, and supporting the standardization of technical and facility processes and systems. This position involves a mix of construction engineering, planning, project management, and contract management, starting from the pre-construction phase. It requires someone passionate about planning, design, construction, and project management.
If you enjoy traveling, this role is based in Europe and will require frequent travel within the region or within your home country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee construction engineering, planning, and design for Amazon Fulfillment Centers and other new projects, expansions, and build-outs.
- Manage building projects and additional capacity needs within the existing European Fulfillment Centers network.
- Supervise construction engineering design for new and existing facility projects.
- Prepare reports, specifications, and technical analyses to define design requirements and necessary equipment and services.
- Survey facilities, develop audit procedures, evaluate and analyze facilities, recommend solutions for infrastructure, safety, and security.
- Assist in vendor negotiations and provide formal documentation for approval when necessary.
- Ensure contracts are cost-effective, include appropriate Service Level Agreements, and fit the project's requirements.
- Support site management by planning, proposing business specifications, and coordinating subcontractors.
- Collaborate on due diligence evaluations for new opportunities.
- Ensure external resources meet work duration and quality targets and address any underperformance issues.
- Audit contractors to verify their skills align with project needs and oversee the scheduling and recording of contract work.
- Support stakeholders in cost negotiation with developers, general contractors, and design consultants.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with demonstrated experience in relevant roles.
- Proficiency in English and German, both written and spoken.
- Proven project management experience from design to implementation and operation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- M.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or similar fields.
- Project management experience across different phases and disciplines.
- Experience in areas such as General Contracting, Owner's Representation, Engineering & Design.
- Experience with multi-disciplinary design involving automation or robotics.
- Knowledge of processing/logistical facilities design, planning, and construction.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Professional affiliation with relevant Engineering and Construction Bodies.
- Familiarity with Health and Safety regulations in design and construction.
- Understanding of Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Willingness to travel up to 50% across Europe.
- Proficiency in a second language among Arabic, French, or Polish is a plus.
