The job
We are seeking a driven postdoctoral researcher (f/m/x) eager to contribute to a third-party funded, emerging young research group specializing in application-oriented protein biotechnology. Situated within the Department of Molecular Environmental Biotechnology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research, you will allege the development of innovative methodologies for the heterologous production of metalloproteins and their integration into biotechnological applications. Your responsibilities will encompass a blend of laboratory experimentation, mentorship of PhD students, data analysis, and collaboration with both scientific and industrial partners. This position offers an initial term of 2 years, with potential for extension thereafter.

Your tasks
Heterologously production of metalloproteins in different host organisms Purification of proteins and scale up the production efficiency Protein design by side-directed mutagenesis Analysis of proteins via protein mass spectrometry, ICP-MS, cryo-EM, EPR, native and SDS-PAGE etc. Development of high-throughput activity tests Collaboration with scientific and industrial partners Presentation of data on scientific conferences and meetings, writing of publications and reports Supervision of PhD students and other studentsWe offer

Completed doctorate in the biological or biochemical field Experience in molecular biology desirable Experience in analytics (mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, HPLC) and protein biochemistry (protein purification, protein analysis, activity assays) is mandatory Very good communication skills in English (written and oral) Experience in writing publications Experience in supervising students and doctoral candidates-
