Visit us at is looking for a business-minded merchandising expert to be our Senior Product Merchandiser in our German team. This role will own the strategy and drive the execution of merchandising our inventory via search rules, logic, content, and operations to create search results that balance customer experience and business, COGS, and partner needs. In this role, you will own the search results on the e-commerce site, "", and in Monotype's enterprise SaaS product, "Monotype Fonts". Additionally, you will direct, strategize, and deploy budget to drive merchandising efforts to improve discovery of product listings and brands.Reporting to the Senior Director, Digital & Inventory Product Operations, this role will require bringing together multidisciplinary skillsets to deliver creative and holistic business leadership, including strong strategic experience, data analytics skills, search technology expertise, financial acumen, agile scrum management, strategy development, and a global perspective. We are looking for a passionate creative thinker with a desire to drive results, who is comfortable working with various business stakeholders and customers.What you'll be doing:
  • Own the strategy and drive the execution of merchandising our inventory via search rules, logic, content, and operations to create search results that balance customer experience and business, COGS, and partner needs.
  • Deeply analyze search data regularly to understand search trends, individual search result performance, font and foundry metrics, and gaps in customer searches.
  • Own and optimize search results on the e-commerce site "" and Monotype's enterprise SaaS product "Monotype Fonts". This role does not own filters or other related search experiences.
  • Be an expert in search with a deep understanding and empathy for the biggest challenges font users face within product discovery.
  • Curate and communicate metric-driven intelligence about inventory trends, customer behavior, and other opportunities derived from search behavior across Monotype strategically to key internal functions.
  • Establish an operational process for search including key stakeholders, partners, and font SMEs to build a culture of business-focused search testing and adjustment to ensure that search is meeting our goals.
  • Collaborate with our partnerships team to operationalize our commitments to premier partners as it relates to their products in search and discovery.
  • Direct, strategize, and deploy budget and parallel teams to drive merchandising efforts to improve product listings and brands to improve discovery. Collaborate with finance to model revenue impact and measure results.
  • Prioritize and measure the economics of search and discovery, i.e. how changes to search impact our partner's earnings and business metrics including gross margin.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and policies in collaboration with Legal about the principles governing search levers, sorting, scores, and rules.
  • Collaborate with marketing teammates to develop content to educate the type designers that sell their fonts with us to drive their behavior to improve their search results.
  • Identify, refine, and monitor your KPIs to understand the health of your product and its impact on key business metrics.
  • Collaborate with key business leaders and consult with the product team on features, capabilities, and insights where S&D is deployed outside of MyFonts and Monotype Fonts via our APIs to plan for the search experience in new business lines and technical products, internally and externally.
  • Meet with existing and potential customers or partners (remote and onsite).
  • Enthusiasm to travel internationally multiple times per year to collaborate with stakeholders, partners, customers, and teammates.
What we're looking for:
  • Bachelors' Degree in Business or Technical focus.
  • A business-minded merchandising expert with 7+ years with a focus on Merchandising in Digital Product Development and/or Digital Product Management with full product life-cycle experience in an Agile environment.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, particularly using data sets to problem solve, with a strong ability to achieve results.
  • You bring a global perspective to your work, with experience creating experiences for users in multiple geographies. International work experience preferred.
  • Experience working with Algolia search technology.
  • Interest and familiarity with fonts and graphic design.
  • Comfortable working in the gray or white space: you are comfortable working through ambiguity and driving change management that comes with established teams.
  • You are an outstanding storyteller, communicator, and internal/external evangelist.
  • You approach problems with a business-focused lens first, balancing the needs of the business, partners, and customers.
  • You understand complexities and nuances of search and search technology, but don't get stuck in the details; you are comfortable diving deep and then coming back up to drive holistic strategy.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to analyze and interpret data and synthesize recommendations into actionable insights.
  • Creative thinker with a vision, entrepreneurial mindset with strong attention to detail.
  • Innate sense of curiosity. Unafraid to challenge the status quo. Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and assess value to business goal and strategy.
  • Experience managing stakeholders across large, global, cross-functional teams in order to achieve business goals and results.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBi, Algolia, and Agile tools like Jira.
  • Fluent in English.
