Dynamics of Muscle Stem Cells

Living organisms respond to a wide range of extracellular signals resulting in

the activation of intracellular signaling networks. Our research interest is to

explore basic mechanisms of cell signaling that control protein function and

homeostasis. We use modern mass spectrometers (Orbitrap Eclipse/Exploris

and timsTOF Pro2) to characterize the dynamics of post
- translational modifica
- tions (PTMs) including phosphorylation, acetylation and ubiquitination. Thus,

investigating the function of PTMs and their association to enzymatic activity

under regular and perturbed conditions is important for obtaining a better

understanding of cellular systems critical for regeneration and diseases.

YOUR TASKS
- work on a project aiming to understand the molecular
mechanisms controlling regenerative processes in

quiescent and activated muscle stem cells (MuSCs)
- project integrated into an international collaboration of experts in the
field of skeletal muscle biology, stem cells and muscle regeneration
- use of SILAC, TMT-labeling or label-free approaches for protein
quantification in combination with PTM enrichment approaches
- use of molecular biology, bioanalytical techniques and
bioinformatics to investigate complex cellular networks

in skeletal muscles and isolated muscle stem cells
- close collaboration with members of the Krüger Lab,
the Proteomics facility, other research teams at CECAD

and our international collaboration partners
- computational and statistical analysis of (phospho) proteomic datasets
- presentations at scientific meetings and publications

YOUR PROFILE

  • PhD in biology, biochemistry or another life science associated discipline
- interest in working with mouse models

study the proteome and phosphoproteome of skeletal muscles

and skeletal muscle stem cells during regeneration
- strong interest in proteomics, biochemical sample preparation
techniques for protein analytics from biological samples
- background in skeletal muscle biology or relevant area of biology is a plus
- experience in proteomics data analysis
- ability to accurately and reliably document and present scientific data
- strong motivation, ability for teamwork, good

communication skills and flexibility in mind
