We are looking for an exceptional professional to join our team as a Laser Integration and Packaging Expert (m/f/d). You will be part of one of our affiliated companies, leading the exploration, implementation, and assessment of different solutions for laser integration and fiber-to-chip coupling in integrated photonic transceivers. Your main focus will be on customizing existing market solutions to suit our specific requirements.
In this position, you will concentrate on developing efficient and scalable solutions, ensuring top-notch performance and integration of photonic systems. This role demands a proactive approach to technology, emphasizing innovation and effectiveness.

In this role, you'll:- Attain low-loss chip-to-fiber coupling and define light source selection within the first year
- Invent and devise new architectural concepts and design approaches for the packaging of integrated photonic systems in line with industry trends and standards
- Guide the packaging solutions development from concept to production, ensuring scalability and efficiency
- Work with external collaborators to create and present a packaging solution within the initial 18 months
- Conduct intricate optical tests and cooperate with cross-functional teams to enhance and optimize the packaging procedure
- Hold a PhD or possess a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the photonics field
- Demonstrate expertise in photonic packaging and/or laser integration
- Knowledge of OSAT trends
- Solid comprehension of thermal packaging challenges, including heat transfer, as well as mechanical aspects like strain and stress
- Skilled in designing photonic passive components
- Proficient in utilizing at least one of the simulation tools such as Lumerical, Comsol, Zemax, or similar software
- Outstanding English communication skills, proficient in conveying technical ideas and working with diverse teams
- Proficiency in the German language is advantageous
