With a clear focus on user needs, the ZEISS Innovation Hub @ KIT explores new technology and application fields, enabling the transformation of ideas into innovations. Here, students, researchers, entrepreneurs, and ZEISS employees meet at eye level and practice an open-innovation culture.
For our team of researchers and engineers, we seek bachelor or master students supporting us in both hardware and software development for medical robotics, computer-assisted interventions and surgical assistance functions.

Your Role

  • Develop and test concepts for medical robotics systems
  • Work in one or more of these fields: medical engineering, robotics, signal processing, machine learning, and computer vision
  • Get hands-on experience: Conduct and evaluate experiments in our medical robotics lab
  • Document and present your research results
  • Research existing solutions in the scientific and patent literature as well as in commercially available products
  • Work closely with international experts in robotics, sensor signal processing, modeling, and medical technology
  • Work with researchers and engineers in a collaborative environment at the newly built ZEISS Innovation Hub Karlsruhe, right on site of the KIT campus north

Your Profile

  • You are enrolled in a bachelor’s / master’s program in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics or comparable with excellent results
  • You have basic knowledge in robotics, modeling, and/or signal processing
  • You have programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, MATLAB, C++. Knowledge in ROS / ROS2 is a plus
  • Excellent organization, problem-solving, communication (English and/or German) and innovation skills
  • Passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies as well as motivation to work in agile, interdisciplinary teams
