Alchemy is pleased to be working with an established art organisation in Germany which is searching for a Director of Post-War and Contemporary Art to join their teamThis position will be focused on acquisitions, client development and supporting on the growth of the department The ideal candidate will have a proven knowledge of Post-War and Contemporary art and business development within the art industry.Responsibilities:Acquisition of post-warand contemporary artworks for auctionActively find and contact with potential buyers and sellers of works of art (in writing, by telephone, in person), building and managing a client portfolioProactively lead sales discussionsProviding estimates that are customised to meet clientexpectations in a thorough and timely mannerWork closely with the department and management as neededGain knowledge of what current clients have in their collectionsActively promote contemporary art auctions and private salesApproach potential buyers and highlight opportunities in auctionsMaintaining relationships with all categories of clients (collectors, dealers, companies, institutions)Attend gallery openings and art-related events to raise the profile of the companyAct as an ambassador for the companyRequirements:Extensive professional experience within the art market and gallery / auction processesStrong knowledge of Post-War and Contemporary ArtA readiness to pick up knowledge from others, strong organising abilities, and a track record of meeting deadlinesExcellent communication and interpersonal abilitiesCapacity to perform well under pressureTheabilityto operate both independently and collaborativelyUniversity degree or equivalentConfident using Microsoft Office software (Apple/Mac knowledge beneficial)Business-mindedFlexibility in working hours and willingness to travel#J-18808-Ljbffr
