Summary

About the Position:
Works as the senior Budget Analyst for US Africa Command (AFRICOM), directing and advising junior analysts to perform a wide range of evaluative and analytical duties in support of multiple appropriations for the purposes of budget formulation, program/funds control, program oversight and review, and analysis.

This position is a full-time term appointment not to exceed 36 Months. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of eight (8) years.



Duties
  • Monitor and evaluate budget execution to ensure funds are executed in accordance with approved program guidance.
  • Identify problem areas, researches, determines, and implements corrective courses of action.
  • Select and apply a wide range of complex and unrelated analytical methods and techniques (e.g., programming, planning, budgeting, execution (PPBE), cost-benefit analysis in order to forecast budgetary needs.
  • Study sources of data utilized as the basis for recommendations of fund adjustments between apportionment categories or for new projects not yet within current apportionments.
  • Participate with various management officials in developing the strategy for presenting the budget and provide advice on policy implications, regulations, and legislation.
  • Guide and persuade program managers and other officials in a course of action consistent with established budgetary policies, objectives, and regulations.
  • Review, interpret, and implement budget guidance as applicable to budgets for assigned program areas.
  • Analyzes budgetary relationships and develops recommendations under tight deadlines, short and rapid changes in programs, and gaps in program and budget objectives.
