As a specialty provider of primary insurance services, Great Lakes Insurance SE with its branches in the UK, Australia, Switzerland, Italy and Ireland and its subsidiary in the UK, is an integral part of Munich Re Group and an important enabler for Specialty Insurance Business (GSI - Global Specialty Insurance) closely connected to Munich Re's reinsurance core business.
You will lead the financial risk management team (currently 5 persons) in Munich and participate in the global Great Lakes enterprise risk management function located in Munich, London and Sydney. The role will work in close collaboration with responsible business units as well as with the Group Integrated Risk Management department in MR.
This position offers exciting challenges and insights within Great Lakes, Munich Re AG and other Global Specialty Insurance units, with exposure to Board Members, top management, regulatory bodies as well as a network of specialists within Munich Re (MR). You will be part of a dynamic and diverse team.

YOUR JOB
• Leading, motivating, and further developing the financial risk management team covering all core risk management elements including identification, measurement, monitoring, control and reporting of all financial risks the company is exposed to
• Supporting the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in the execution of the regulated risk management function, the advisory role to the Board of Management, and the mirroring of the Group CRO function
• Performing the annual capital model cycle, including modelling, validation, and documentation
• Quantitative risk management and risk analytics, contributing to the use test of the capital model, including performing stress and scenario testing and providing risk opinions on risk-taking decisions under consideration of the risk bearing capacity of the Company
• Contributing to the regulatory and internal risk reporting cycles
• Fulfilling regulatory requirements and ad hoc studies, participating to projects
• Ensuring ongoing appropriate risk governance by maintaining documentation and approval procedures
• Managing stakeholders and the wider embedment of the financial risk management framework at local as well as at group level

YOUR PROFILE
• University degree in mathematics or actuarial science, ideally complemented with further training in risk management or finance
• Extensive professional experience with financial risks
• Strong leadership skills with ability to manage change and intercultural differences
• Strong communication skills, able to present complex matters logically and with transparency, and to provide high-quality reporting tailored to management needs
• Experience in dealing with supervisory authorities in the financial services industry
• Excellent analytical and conceptual skills combined with the ability to explain and present on senior management level
• Very good command of English (written and oral) and German skills at least at an intermediate level
