Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability #IP2TIS offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world. As a sustainability and innovation intern, you will work on cutting-edge projects that align with our commitment to environmental responsibility, social impact, and forward-thinking solutions.
During your internship you will work within the department of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE). We aim for enabling our people to deliver patient outcome at no cost to the planet.
Because of the changed global environmental framework, a new mindset is required in the usage of all resources. Any waste of resources should be avoided. You will contribute in pioneering the transformation of our linear waste management system into a circular economy.
You will gather, compile and evaluate different options of reusing chemical waste. These options might include:
Taking back chemicals
Reselling chemical byproducts
Creating a internal and/or external exchange platform
Based on your learning journey, you will provide suggestions where we should focus our efforts and describe concrete steps towards our goal.
This internship position is located in Mannheim, hybrid.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze available data regarding type, amount and usage of chemicals at the site
Describe opportunities to reuse chemical waste
Evaluate different options regarding feasibility, necessary resources and impact
Measurement and definition of resource, energy and reuse options for production and waste prevention
Present your findings to relevant stakeholders for feedback and decision making
Compile list of action items necessary to realize solution
Who You Are
You are enrolled or have completed your Bachelor’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of engineering (e.g. chemical engineering, process engineering) or natural science. You are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months and getting to know the pharmaceutical industry.
Furthermore you are
You enjoy approaching people and working with a team to develop and implement concepts
You bring first-hand experiences and knowledge in the topics sustainability and waste management
Your comprehension enables you to combine different goals and wishes and to find suitable solutions
You are creative and like to put your ideas into practice
You are self-organized and structure your daily work

The start date for the internship is 1. July 2024.
