These positions are located in the Compensation and Classification Section (CCS), Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD), Office of the Human Resources (OHR), Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). OHR/CCS is responsible for the operation of the United Nations Global Human Resources Centre ('OneHR Centre') established in 2016 to provide centralized job classification and background verification services to the common system organizations. These positions are located in the Compensation and Classification Section in Bonn. The incumbent will report to the Chief of Section through the P-4 OneHR Centre Manager.




Responsibilities

The Programme Management Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: • Assists in the coordination of programme/project planning and preparation work for OneHR; monitors status of programme/project proposals and receipt of relevant documentation for review and approval. • Assists in reviewing and processing background verification cases for the OneHR Centre, including academics, employment verification, qualitative check and mandatory checks; ensures client is kept abreast of progress made; strives to close cases within agreed timelines. • Assists in reviewing and processing classification cases for the OneHR Centre, including provision of ICSC Master standard rating sheets, narrative on the classification decisions, and communication to the client on advice when relevant. Serves as focal point for administrative coordination of programme/project implementation activities, involving extensive liaison with a diverse organizational units to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, e.g. recruitment and appointment of personnel, travel arrangements, training/study tours, authorization of payments, disbursement of funds, procurement of equipment and services, etc. • Compiles, summarizes and enters data on OneHR Centre delivery; drafts related status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, budget overruns, etc., and brings to the attention of management. • Provides general office assistance; responds to complex information requests and inquiries; reviews, logs and routes incoming correspondence; sets up and maintains files/records; organizes meetings, workshops; handles routine administrative tasks, such as maintaining attendance records, assessing telephone billing, etc. • Provides guidance/training to new/junior staff. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in programme or project administration, human resources, administration, technical cooperation or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to three (3) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience working with case-management software/systems is desirable. Experience supporting with conducting reference verifications is desirable.




Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.




Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Appointment against this post shall be for an initial period of one (1) year. The appointment or assignment and renewal thereof are subject to the availability of the post or funds, budgetary approval or extension of the mandate.
