Job Description Summary

The Facility and Property Manager for the Garching near Munich based GE Aerospace site will manage a diverse multi-discipline organization to include facility management, maintenance, environment, health & safety support and overall site security leadership. In this role, you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to overall business strategy.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drive quality improvements and lead the business maintenance and facility operations.

  • Environment, Health & Safety Leader for site operations

  • Create and implement an effective preventative maintenance program and plan projects for facility improvements from concept to completion.

  • Forecast & manage budget for the Facilities department in support of business demands.

  • Coordinate facilities initiatives with Operations team to support production.

  • Focal for general Site Security topics

  • Negotiate, maintain and review contracts for all third-party contractors, cleaners, waste removal, vending, recycling, security provider, etc. Evaluate in-flight projects, review work of contractors, coordinate and supervise activities related to the maintenance and repair of building and equipment systems, and close out projects.

  • Assure team compliance with the site management of change process, to ensure facilities related changes impacts to safety, reliability and maintainability are pro-actively identified and addressed prior to implementation.

  • Ensure that equipment and services purchased are acceptable quality and cost effective. Develop and coordinate department proposals for facilities projects.

  • Be available & support on call needs for all facilities related emergencies.

  • Ensure that all compliance standards are maintained, and regulatory maintenance is executed

Required Qualifications

  • University or university of applied sciences degree (Bachelor) in Engineering Sciences with a focus on Facility Management, Safety Engineering or a comparable field of study (e.g., Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering) as well as some years of relevant professional experience

  • Or a qualification as a state-certified technician (Techniker) or master craftsman (Meister), along with profound professional experience in this field

  • Fluency in German and English required

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Engineering from an accredited college or university

  • Completed training course to become a certified safety specialist in Germany (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a multi-functional organization.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.

  • Ability to identify and implement best practices.
