We are looking for an exceptional DevOps/Cloud/Platform Engineer who is passionate about designing and building products of digital financial service to help drive our rapid growth.

About the Role 

Our software engineers are experts in the field of software engineering. Through their experience, they can take technical leadership and set technical directions. Solid communication skills enable them to consistently explain their decisions, reasoning and establish, manage, and guide expectations. In addition, their thorough knowledge of software development allows them to translate business requirements into the design and development of industry-leading solutions.

We are seeking a highly motivated DevOps Engineer with Security experience, to join our team with a passion for implementing and maintaining security controls across the company's infrastructure and applications. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of our systems and processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement security solutions that meet business needs. You would be expected to possess strong understanding of both DevOps methodologies and security best practices. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize our cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, configuration, and monitoring, on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively optimize resources to ensure optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Integrate security into the DevOps process by implementing security controls, conducting security testing, and continuously monitoring the system for vulnerabilities or threats.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the cloud environment, databases, and associated technologies in a timely manner.
  • Implement and maintain security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and other security-related technologies.
  • Develop and maintain security policies and procedures for our cloud environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, tools, and best practices in cloud technologies, relational databases, and security to continuously enhance our infrastructure and processes.
  • Promote security awareness and best practices across the organisation.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in DevOps, with a focus on managing and optimizing cloud environments.
  • Strong expertise in relational database administration, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security eg: Oracle , PostgreSQL.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, security protocols, and best practices for securing cloud infrastructure and databases.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps methodologies and best practices.
  • Strong experience with scripting and automation, such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Passion for company-wide security, with a strong desire to promote and implement security best practices across the organization.
Nice to have
  • Experience working with a global or otherwise multicultural team.
  • Experience working with a remote team.
  • Experience in red teaming would be a plus.
  • Experience in Compliance-as-Code would be a plus.
  • Experience with finance regulation topics would be a plus
  • Led a team of DevSecOps professional
  • Knowledge of German Language would be a plus
  • Any prior experience with working in a Security field in German Fintech would be a big plus

Your first week

  • Meet with the team and have 1on1 conversations with everyone.
  • Get introduced to our business and upcoming challenges.
  • Discuss our current objectives with our leadership team.

Your first month

The first month is there to orient yourself. Get to know our codebase, understand the reasons behind past choices, understand the context of our organization.
  • Working out all the particular areas of the codebase and functionality.
  • How the pieces all fit together.
  • How it all relates to the product and value that we are providing to our customers.
Your first quarter

In the first quarter you will become fully integrated into your team and be able to work with everybody on our ongoing projects. In line with this you will also integrate yourself into your chapter.

  • Bringing value to our customers.
  • Moving our projects forward, cycle to cycle.
  • Working towards your own goals, to raise the bar.
  • Participating in our engineering team meetings, defining our own principles, goals, and how we want to work

Compensation & Perks

  • We are a remote-first company. Our engineering team members are spread across the world, but we need to be in similar timezones +-4 hours CET.
  • Competive salary with collegial team opportunities to collaborate occasionally in our Freiburg office location
  • This is a permanent, full-time (40h/wk) role.
  • 30 days of paid vacation.
