Responsibilities
Responsibilities and duties in the role of radiation protection :
- Compliance with the Radiation Protection Act and the Radiation Protection Ordinance
- Compliance with the conditions of the handling and transport permit for the sealed radioactive sources
by employees of the Wireline Department
- Supervision at measuring points on site
- Proper loading of the emitters, as well as compliance with ADR regulations during transport
- Arrangement of the application of personal dosimeters
- Arrangement of the necessary measures on site in case of accidents as well as in case of suspicion of
contamination or incorporation
- Protection of the emitters against theft, other loss or unauthorized interference
- Informing the responsible supervisory authority about planned work assignments and special incidents
under your supervision
- Entry of the job report in accordance with the handling permit in the database
- Immediate information of radiation protection supervisors, department heads about radiation accidents,
loss of the sources and irregularities in radiation protection during operations under your supervision.
Additional responsibilities and duties:
- Instructing relevant employees in your area about radiation hazards and applicable safety and
protective measures
- Preparation and maintenance of the radiation protection instructions
- Arrangement of the required medical examinations of all employees concerned, in particular the annual
preventive medical check-ups.
- Ensuring and checking that the relevant limits for radiation exposure of their employees are complied
with. This also includes procuring and arranging for the evaluation of personal dosimeters.
- Maintaining the radiation protection file for all affected employees.
- Maintaining the storage of radiation sources on the company premises in Berkhopen.
- Regularly carrying out the necessary verifications or arranging for the leak tightness of the emitters to
be checked.
- Correspondence with the authorities, including proof to the supervisory authority that the personal
doses have fallen below the limit values, incidents that have occurred, acquisition and departure
notifications.
Qualifications
4-5 years related job and field experience High School diploma (or Secondary School Diploma or equivalent) as minimum. Preferred 2 years College degree General product knowledge and radiation protection knowledge Mechanical ability necessary Valid Driver license Basic Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel computer skills Self-motivator, self-starter Very good oral and written communication skills in German and in English Must be able to follow instructions Able to work closely with fellow employees
