What you’ll do

The ABAP Language team at Business Technology Platform ABAP (BTP ABAP) is an expert group dedicated to refining and advancing the ABAP Language. As SAP's own programming language and central asset, ABAP plays a crucial role in developing business applications in the SAP ecosystem, standing as the industry standard and most widely used programming language in enterprise software.

We're seeking talented developers to join our team, with a specific focus on integrating AI into the ABAP language and environment. As an ABAP or C++ Developer specializing in Generative AI, you'll be tasked with creatively applying AI solutions to enhance ABAP's language and programming paradigms.

Your responsibilities: 

• Join our compiler and virtual machine development teams to enhance the ABAP programming language by analyzing industry trends in programming languages and uncovering opportunities for improvement
• Seamlessly integrate AI algorithms into the ABAP language and environment, focusing on code prediction, error detection, and performance optimization. Work alongside data scientists and machine learning engineers to train large language models (LLMs) tailored to specific programming use cases
• Provide expert guidance and support to developers and customers seeking to integrate AI-powered features into their ABAP development workflows

What you bring

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or relevant coursework and certifications
• Proficiency in programming languages like C/C++, Rust, ABAP, Java, or Python
• Understanding the fundamentals of machine learning is beneficial, even if not accompanied by hands-on experience
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are crucial. Showcasing programming skills and problem-solving abilities through personal or academic projects is highly valued
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, emphasizing the ability to work well in a team
• Fluency in German and English is a requirement for this role
