Product Safety Compliance Engineer

An den Standorten Hockenheim und Lübeck werden Papierdosen für zahlreiche namhafte Lebensmittel- Tabak- und andere Herstelle der Konsumgütersparte produziert. An unserem Standort in Zwenkau wiederrum werden Lebensmittelverkaufsverpackungen aus recyclefähigem Kunststoff erstellt, wie zum Beispiel Verpackungen für Joghurt, Wurst- und Käseprodukte oder Speiseeis.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Experience in working with Global regulatory and consumer safety requirements and standards pertaining to food contact products (pharmaceutical a plus).
• Design, implement and manage programs, policies, and practices to ensure that all Sonoco Consumer products are in compliance with applicable legal regulatory requirements globally.
• Represent Compliance in cross-functional teams to provide strategic regulatory compliance advice working closely with T&D, Supply Management, Quality Management and suppliers.
• Review new and existing raw materials and products, ensuring compliance with applicable global legal regulatory requirements (e.g. EU, FDA).

• Document and communicate compliance status to stakeholders.

• Manage, review and approve all relevant compliance documentation and notifications.
• Identify, track and evaluate of key regulatory updates in accordance with corporate strategy (e.g. with the support of external information services).
• Responsible for implementation applicable product safety and compliance requirements of demonstrating compliance in each case.
• Communicate with colleagues of all levels and supply most current approval documentation.
• Able to work with both management and colleagues; coordinate information among departments and educate development teams about mandatory and applicable product regulations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

• Degree in natural sciences or engineering from a university or technical college.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in Regulatory, Packaging, Chemistry, Food Microbiology, Food Science and/or related area.
• Experience/desire to manage/lead people.
• Preferred:  Working knowledge of required compliance test requirements for food contact and/or pharma.
• Strong prioritization skills.
• Capability to handle multiple tasks.
• Able to work independently and make recommendations and decisions.
• Willing to take challenges, hardworking, self-motivated, and dependable.
• Very good teamwork skills.
• Very good written and verbal communication skills as well in German as in English.
• Proficient in MS Office, Word and Excel along with the ability to learn other systems as needed.
