The main focus of the research group "Cognitive Neurophysiology" (head: Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Christian Beste) at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and the Institute of Psychology at the TU Dresden is the investigation of neurobiological basics of cognitive control and executive functions using modern experimental psychological, neurophysiological and neurobiological methods in healthy people and neuropsychiatric diseases.
A position as a
Doctoral student
is to be filled as soon as possible. This part time position (65%) is initially limited to 36 months, with remuneration according to the Collective Agreement for the Public Service of the States (TV-L), entailing possible placement in pay group E13 TV-L contingent upon personal qualifications. A long-term collaboration is intended.
The position is to be filled within a third-party funded project focusing on neurophysiological processes underlying the integration of perception and action. The focus is on experimental studies in healthy individuals. The project seeks to gain insights into the interplay of different frequency bands/oscillatory patterns during perception-action integration processes with special emphasis on cross-frequency coupling processes. Within the project, also brain stimulation methods will be employed to provide mechanistic insights into the neurophysiological pattern being analyzed (cross-frequency couplings etc.). The research area will be extended to neuropsychiatric diseases in adults and children/adolescents. The position is connected to research in DFG-funded research groups FOR2698 and FOR2790 as well as to the newly established Center for Child and Adolescent Health (DZKJ). Your Profile:
- degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, biosignal Engineering
- programming/scripting skills is required (e.g. in MATLAB)
- interest in one of the following methods would be an advantage (EEG, TMS, tDCS)
- willingness to work independently, on your own responsibility and in a Team
- a high degree of personal commitment and interest in an academic Career
- interest in working with patients
- excellent communication skills in english
