Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head of Accounting to join our team. The Deputy Head of Accounting will work closely with the Head of Accounting to oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of Accounting in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll functions.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts for management, investors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to support annual audits, tax filings, and other financial compliance requirements.
  • Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue growth, and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, operations, and legal, to support cross-functional initiatives and achieve company objectives.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations, standards, and industry best practices, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Assist with special projects, such as system implementations, acquisitions, and strategic planning initiatives, as needed.
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or other professional accounting certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team, foster collaboration, and drive results.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
