Freight Forwarding Branch Manager- Munich

The role

We are actively looking for our first branch manager within freight forwarding for our Munich location. You will be the most senior person within that branch and with your team you will be tasked in developing the strategy to help achieve your commercial and operational targets. You will understand the local account mix and optimise the sales plan that will allow key account retention as well as developing new accounts.

This is a really exciting time to join DP World as we pivot from a ports and terminals business into an end to end supply chain organisation and you will be instrumental in this transformation. As we push towards opening a global footprint within our freight forwarding network you will be managing one of our key locations within Europe.

You will be managing a team of sales and operational specialists who will execute your strategy that will allow the branch to achieve its goals. You will also be involved with dealing with key accounts which will include sales development and customer excellence. You will work with the country manager to develop your budget and an in depth business plan.

Part of your responsibility will also be around developing your people and making sure that they adhere to all security/ safety guidelines and external regulations. This is a pivotal role within the European Freight Forwarding network and you will work with your colleagues across the region to give our customers the exemplary service they are looking for.

The person

So who are we looking for?

  • Extensive experience of working within the freight forwarding industry with a strong focus on operational management and service excellence
  • A fantastic team manager who has experience of performance management, goal setting and a day to day leadership understanding
  • A strong track record of hitting ambitious sales and operational goals
  • Strong knowledge of logistics processes and security procedures and protocols
  • Excellent sales background and an individual who can negotiate to deliver the best result for the company and customer
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to deal with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Fluent in German and English both verbally and written..
